I am pleased to introduce
a collection of limited-edition mosaic mirrors inspired
by the gorgeous mosaic designs of Domenech i Montaner's
Palau de la Musica Catalana, a landmark concert
hall and a masterpiece of Barcelona's modernisme
(Art Nouveau) period, built in 1908.
A vacation to Spain in
May 2002 turned into a mosaic pilgrimage of sorts.
I drew inspiration from the ancient Roman mosaics
and Islamic tile work seen throughout Andalusia. And
our visit to Barcelona coincided with a year-long
celebration marking the 150th anniversary of the birth
of Antoni Gaudi, the city's best known and most innovative
modernisme architect. Gaudi used decorative
mosaic extensively, inside and outside his remarkable
buildings and public works, even covering entire facades--and
at Parc Guell, a long, serpentine bench--in joyful,
exuberant color and pattern.
I
expect to expand this collection to include additional
mirror designs, as well as accent furniture and home
accessories.
Contact
me about the availability and pricing of these
pieces. Custom colors and sizes are available.
